ACOG is a national medical organization representing more than 40,000 physicians who provide healthcare for women. The ACOG web site provides valuable information on violence against women, including domestic, intimate partner and family violence, and sexual assault, plus: 24-hour telephone hotlines, tips on staying safe, fact sheets, provider screening tools and guidelines, national resources and contact information for state sexual assault coalitions. ACOG also offers a selected bibliography and links to several useful related sites.

Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA)

ADAA is a national non-profit dedicated to promoting the treatment, prevention and cure of anxiety disorders and improving the lives of all people who suffer from them. The ADAA web site is a valuable resource for consumer information about PTSD, including: a PTSD self-test, message boards, useful links and a directory on where to find help. The ADAA Bookstore offers books, tapes and other literature for both professionals and consumers.

International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS)

ISTSS is an international organization representing psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, researchers, administrators, advocates and others with an interest in the study and treatment of traumatic stress. The ISTSS web site provides general information about PTSD for consumers and professionals, including: research and treatment guidelines, support services, articles on PTSD, conference schedules, and other trauma-related links and resources.

Sidran Institute

Sidran is a national non-profit organization devoted to education, advocacy and research related to the early recognition and treatment of traumatic stress and trauma-generated disorders. The Sidran web site provides links to trauma-related articles as well as resources specific to survivors, professionals and students. The Sidran Bookshelf offers clinical, educational and survivor support literature as well as PTSD assessment instruments and measures. Professionals also can learn about Sidran’s trauma education and training.
